On Sunday, Slazenger went into their encounter with Gainsborough Roses knowing a win would put them top of the heap over the Christmas break. And they did exactly that, and in some style, romping to a 11-2 victory. Slazenger men's first XI went top of the Yorkshire League Division 1 table with two wins at the weekend. On Saturday, the side overcame tricky conditions to defeat hosts Hull 2-0. Mark Butel slotted home with a reverse stick strike from a tight angle to give Slazenger an early cushion. Slazengers 2nd's had to dig deep for three points in their 3-2 win over Sheffield University Bankers. Things started brightly for Slazenger when Ben Graham converted a Jonny White cross to give them an early lead. Sheffield then began to settle and midway through the half they drew level. Report: 02-12-2000 – Mens 3rd’s (1) vs (1) City of York 5th’s

In a highly entertaining match between two evenly matched sides, Slazenger thirds and visitors City of York 5th's, a 1-1 draw was probably the fairest result. Slazenger moved the ball around nicely in the first half against York and had the best chance of the game, but failed to make it count. It took a touch of magic to break the deadlock, Paul Wiper dancing through several players and riding a crude tackle before firing in an unstoppable shot.
