Slazengers 2nd’s had to dig deep for three points in their 3-2 win over Sheffield University Bankers.
Things started brightly for Slazenger when Ben Graham converted a Jonny White cross to give them an early lead.
Sheffield then began to settle and midway through the half they drew level.
But Slazenger came back playing good hockey and Tim Carr finished off a move to take the lead going into the break.
The home side started the second cycle in the ascendancy and despite Slazenger digging deep the scores were soon level once more.
The game then turned into an end-to-end scrap but it was Slazenger who won it through Carr’s second goal, this one from a tight angle.
Jonny White was the man of the match with Carr and Graham close behind.
This result takes Slazenger to the top of the table and they will look to consolidate their position next week against Rotherham.
