In an ominous move, Slazenger 3rds took to the field lacking new captain Paul Corney. Undeterred, the team strode out against an established Huddersfield squad, looking to secure first blood of the season. The first half started steady, as Slazenger found their stride. This season marks the first year of the new men's development squad as part of Slazenger Hockey Club; A mixture of the brightest upcoming stars, and the experienced older players. In their first outing, The team gelled well, and within the first quarter, they were pilling on the pressure. It was only a matter of time before it paid off. Report: 29-11-2003 – Mens 2nd’s (5) vs. (2) Huddersfield 2nd’s

Slazenger 2nd's stopped the rot after two defeats in the previous three weeks with a 5-2 Yorkshire League division 3 victory over Huddersfield 2nds. The game began at a frantic pace with Slazenger dominating all the play and it took only five minutes for Ben Graham to give them the lead following good work from Laurence Thornton and Tim Carr.
