Report: 18-03-2007 – U10 Girls Tournament
Slazenger U10 girls had a successful tournament of the season in mixed weather conditions. The first team got off to a superb start with victories over Driffield and York before falling to a 2-1 defeat to Wakefield and drawing their final match 0-0 with Rotherham. Rebcca Jessop, Evie Spruce and Evie Johnstone grabbed the goals. Frustrated Slazenger U14s started the new year in dominant form in terms of possession but were disappointed with their three-match results. Slazenger held Leeds to a goalless draw, were unfortunate to lose out 2-0 to Kingston upon Hull, and talented goalkeeper Adam Davis restricted York to a 2-0 win. Slazenger played some good passing hockey and showed signs they were starting to gel as they competed in their third tournament of the season in Harrogate. Despite losing the opening game 3-0 against Rotherham, Slaz hit back with a battling 1-1 draw against Thirsk , thanks to a Jake Barras goal. Slazenger U10s Girls A ended the year on a high with a fantastic display of hockey in the final tournament of the year. A 1-1 draw with Ben Rhydding was followed by a superb 5-1 victory over Doncaster thanks to goals from Rebecca Jessop, Ellie Spruce and Lucy Kent. The victory lifted Slazenger’s confidence and they recorded a further 7-4 victory over Halifax before finishing the even with a close-fought victory over Rotherham.
