Slazenger enhanced their credentials as Yorkshire League Division 2 front runners by overcoming a dogged Roundwood side 3-1 - but they were far from convincing. Slazenger U16's had an excellent day's hockey in the latest round of Yorkshire Youth League matches. Skipper James Swinden led his side to two wins and a draw for seven valuable points. Frustrated by excellend goalkeeping against Driffield, Slazenger had to settle for a 0-0 draw. But the side went on to record 1-0 and 3-0 victories over Bradford and Rotherham respectively. Hero of the hour Thomas Penistone made two penalty shoot-out saves to steer Slazenger U18's into the quarter finals of the RAF Youth Hockey Cup. Slazenger and York were locked at 1-1 each at the end of normal time of a game played on a partly frozen pitch. James Swinden bagged the vital in-game goal.
