Slaz won a hard fought game against Ben Rhydding 2-1. The home team were quick to attack, scoring first from captain and birthday girl Gemma Whittam. However, Ben Rhydding fought back into the game, winning a short corner. This was converted to draw the game level. With a break to regroup at half time, Slaz came back out stronger, scoring the second goal within minutes of the restart. Claire Dunstan took the honours, slotting the ball home. The ladies development team travelled to Sheffield for their first fixture of the season. The team comprised mainly year 9 and 10 girls, most of whom are new to the club, 3 ladies from the successful Back to Hockey sessions that ran through the summer and 2 new senior members who have some recent hockey experience. The game set off at a fast pace with both teams looking to gain the edge, both teams pressured the ball well in the opposition half. Slazenger Men's 3rd's travelled to away to Sheffield for their third game of the season. The team were expecting a tough encounter and were not disappointed, however after a steady start, they emerged 3-1 victors, keeping them top of the table for the third week. The men's 4's showed great composure and control, after going 1-0 down to bring the result back to a draw. Slaz played well and made some good passing moves in the midfield, showing marked improvement since the beginning of the season.
