On Saturday 13th October a long drive to Hull eventually brought the reward of a match well played and won. After last week's great result Slaz went into the game with high hopes. A strong Chapeltown side were made to defend hard for the first part of the game and the home team were very unlucky not to score in several 1 on 1 attempts. Slaz won a hard fought game against Ben Rhydding 2-1. The home team were quick to attack, scoring first from captain and birthday girl Gemma Whittam. However, Ben Rhydding fought back into the game, winning a short corner. This was converted to draw the game level. With a break to regroup at half time, Slaz came back out stronger, scoring the second goal within minutes of the restart. Claire Dunstan took the honours, slotting the ball home. The ladies development team travelled to Sheffield for their first fixture of the season. The team comprised mainly year 9 and 10 girls, most of whom are new to the club, 3 ladies from the successful Back to Hockey sessions that ran through the summer and 2 new senior members who have some recent hockey experience.
