Scarborough

Report: 07-02-2015 – Mens 2nd’s (6) vs. (2) Scarborough 1st’s

February 7, 2015 by Slazenger HC

2015-02-07 - M2 - Dan Atkinson

Slazengers mens 2’nd team made it 3 wins from 3 with a well earned 6-2 win against Scarborough. Slazengers started brightly and immediately put Scarborough under pressure with the keeper making a number of good saves to keep the scores level. It pressure paid off however when Simon Randall converted after good work from Dan Atkinson down the right wing.

Ted Richardson made it 2 from a short corner before Randall found himself in acres of space and confidently fired home for his second. It wasn’t one way traffic however and Scarborough grabbed a lifeline after Slazengers failed to clear a short corner. Slazengers continued to press and won a penalty flick after a ball was illegally stopped on the line, Ben Graham stepped up to convert. There was still time for Richardson to grab his second again after some excellent right wing play from Atkinson to make it 5-1 at the break.

The second half was more even although Slazengers missed a number of opportunities which on another day could have found the net. Scarborough grabbed their second midway through the half with Slazengers hitting when Aidy Buckley rounded off a good team move for his first goal in 10 years. Dan Atkinson took the man of the match award for Slazengers.

Report: 18-10-2014 – Mens 2nd’s (3) vs. (0) Scarborough 1st’s

October 18, 2014 by Slazenger HC

Slazengers mens 2nd team travelled to Scarborough on Saturday and came away with a deserved 3-0 win. The game was summed up by Slazengers keeper Tom Murray who made the 160 mile round trip to not touch the ball once during the game.

Slazengers controlled the possession throughout and in reality should have won by a bigger margin but were hampered by some good Scarborough keeping and some poor finishing from Slazengers. Jonny White opened the scoring from a short corner early in the game with Simon Randall making it 2-0 shortly before half time.

The 2nd half was one way traffic with Slazengers going close on a number of occassions but eventually increased their lead when Ben Grahams deflected shot found its way home.

Dan Atkinson took the man of the match for Slazengers after an excellent debut on the right wing.
