Kevin Windler closed with a hat-trick that clinched the points for Slazenger who bounced back from the previous week's defeat with this excellent first win of the season over strong East Pennine opposition. Slazenger thirds were given a hockey lesson by Leeds University third who won comfortable 8-1. Slazenger were 3-0 down at half time, but rallied after the break for Gavin Kaye and Anwar Al-Khaili to supply Andy Birkett with a ferociously hit goal. Slazenger fifths never really settled into their stride and subsequently lost 3-1 at home to Huddersfield. Slazenger kick off their East Pennine League Division 2 campaign with a disappointing result on home turf. Slazenger started off well enough but were unfortunate to concede a goal just before half time when they should have been 2-0 up. Slazenger seconds battled to the final whistle without reward as experienced Halifax seconds secured a contentious 2-0 victor. Wingers Matt Birkett and man of the match Richard Whawell were constant threats but the sides were deadlocked at 0-0 at half-time.
