This year we will be running a mixed interclub summer league. It’s a perfect opportunity to play some social mixed hockey. All money raised will go into the pitch sinking fund. Wednesday 13th May – 24th June Two time slots; 8pm – 9pm, and 9pm – 10pm; Games will be half pitch, 20 minutes each way; All this is only £3 per week! Slazengers mens 2nd team faced Huddersfield mens 3's in their penultimate game of the season and ran out comfortable 5-0 winners. Slazengers were quick off the mark and put Huddersfield under early pressure but failed to find the net until midway through the half when Brett Cunningham finished off a good cross from winger Ian Hedges. Slazengers mens 2nd team suffered only their 2nd defeat in 8 games at home to Halifax on Saturday, eventually losing 3-2. Halifax were a skillful direct side and Slazengers struggled to adjust their play to suit. Early pressure came meaning the Slazengers defence and keeper were having to work hard to keep Halifax at bay. Slazengers travelled to Chapeltown in the morning for a crucial match in their promotion chase. Chapeltown were in 3rd place before the game and 5 points behind Slaz with a game extra to play. In the early exchanges Slazengers were second best as Chapeltown put pressure on the Slaz back four. Then after 15 minutes Chapeltown scored after a mix up between goalkeeper and full back which led to a tap in for the home team forward.
