A new season and some new faces but still a side with an average age of 8 took part in the first tournament of the year starting in Division C against some older and more experienced teams. The under 14’s started brightly this season in their first encounter. The squad is a new one but the welcome addition of Dan Levitt and Matt Stacey made all the difference. The back 4 consisted of Tom Atkinson, Ben Stevenson, Jacob Dennison and young Chris Gascoigne with Danny Alderson in goals. The game got off to a good tempo from both teams moving the ball around very well and creating good attacking chances early on. Both defences held off the final chances well. Adam Drake had a good solid game in defence. Harrogate took the lead in the first half with a successful short corner routine that found the side netting. The mens 3rd's travelled away to Grimsby for their 4th game of the season, and came away with a tough fought win; their fourth of the season keeping them top of the table for a fourth week. The team were slow to start off, and while several passages of play showed their usual passing dominance, the visitors were unable to really apply the flowing style which had marked out the first encounters this season. Slazenger's started the brightest in this division 6 cup fixture, with several telling attacks down both flanks and generally controlling the possession well in midfield with Ste Roberts and Rowan Tejura dictating the play and spreading the ball out wide to the wingers.
