Slazenger 3's last game of 2013 saw them play a Lincoln Roses team lying second in the league and it was soon apparent to the Horbury side why they are so high in the table. The opposition were very quick and skillful on the counter attack. They were naturally full of confidence and played with great freedom. Slazengers looked sluggish in comparison and were slow to get going. Report: 08-12-2013 – Boys U10’s “B” Team Tournament
Slazenger had a good match to start their tournament against Sheffield. They were strong in defence and played some great hockey in the midfield. Both teams were unable to score. In the next two matches Slazenger’s attack got stronger and changes were created to score. Daniel Menzer came close to scoring with a brilliant strike. Slaz were slipping up early on but kept in the game and created lots of chances in the first half, but due to misfortune and some great saves Kingston were in the lead at half time. Slaz failed to challenge the ball when not in possession and Kingston made their few chances count. Report: 07-12-2013 – Mens 2nd’s (3) vs. (2) Sheff. Uni Bankers 6th’s
Slazengers Mens 2nd team completed their pre-christmas fixures with a 3-2 home win against Sheffield Uni Bankers 6ths. To coin a phrase, this was a game of 2 halves with Slazengers leading 3-0 at half time only for Bankers to bounce back in the 2nd half. The first half comprised of Slazengers playing excellent hockey, passing the ball well, using the space and stretching Bankers at every opportunity.
