Slazengers mens 2nd team shook off the cobwebs after a long Christmas break to come out 6-4 winners against Sheffield Hallam mens 5ths. In reality, there should have been further distance between the teams but a couple of defensive lapses by Slazengers allowed Hallam back into the game. The game started strongly for both sides with both teams having chances but Slazengers defence was strong. After many attacks before half time finally the first goal was scored by Slazengers. After half time Slazengers continued to push strongly and managed to get 2 more goals from skilful open play and then another goal in the final play of the game which was a short corner. Slazenger 3's returned to action in Yorkshire division 5 south, after their Christmas break, with a competitive 3-2 victory over strong opposition in Leeds 6's. The first half was very even with both sides having chances to score. But for some resolute defending, the game had remained scoreless well into the first half. With New Year only just passed it was back to Hockey already. Refreshed from the break Slazengers ladies started with determination managing to score first from a short corner. Horsforth then equalised and so it continued with each side scoring but Slazengers never in a losing position. Horsforth were a strong team but Slazengers had the majority of the attack and managed to settle the full time score at 5-3 to bag another win.
