Slazenger seconds battled to the final whistle without reward as experienced Halifax seconds secured a contentious 2-0 victor. Wingers Matt Birkett and man of the match Richard Whawell were constant threats but the sides were deadlocked at 0-0 at half-time. The Slazenger club's dissapointment continued apace with a 5-1 reversal for Slazenger thirds at the hands of Adel fourths. Slazenger thirds warmed up for their league opener against Adel thirds with a 6-1 reversal at the hands of Adel thirds on Saturday. The difference in standard was evident but Slazenger worked hard to stay in the game. Thomas Penistone had another fine match in goal, ably-assisted by sweeper Tony Sidwell.
