Slazenger’s seconds suffered another disappointing defeat at the hands of Brigg seconds in a game that they should have so easily won. The game started at a good pace with Slazenger’s making some strong in roads into the Brigg defence and justifiably took the lead through Tim Carr. Slazenger 5ths romped to an easy 5-0 victory over Wakefield sixths in the cup. The home side took the lead early with a great goal by captain Ian Gordon followed shortly afterwards by a goal from Chris Wood. Slazengers went from strength to strength as Dave Smyth scored his second in two games. Andy Auty scored the forth goal and Ian Gordon's strike completed an excellent first half by the Slaz' team. Slazenger U12 Girls took part in their latest round of matches in the Yorkshire Youth League. They opened up with a 0-0 draw against local rivals Wakefield and followed it with a 1-1 draw with Kirklees. Philippa Secker scoring. Next was a goalless draw against Doncaster before a one-sided match against Pickering with Heather Bates and Laura Waterton both scoring. A good win for Slazenger even though it should have been 7 - 0 as Richard Hutchings was robbed of his second goal. Slazenger started off well pushing up the field to the goal. A good link up from Richard and Jermane Cockerill saw Cockerill put 1 goal away. Airedale came back, but Slazenger’s strong defence kept them out. In the third of five tournaments to be held this season Slazenger U10's played in the second division for the first time after good results moved them up. It was a promising start with a 2-0 win against Chapeltown's B side, with goals from Henry Moore and Daniel Perry.
