York

Report: 11-11-2000 – Mens 3rd’s (5) vs. (1) York

November 11, 2000 by Slazenger HC

An outstanding performance from Slazenger thirds’ front line gained them a convincing 5-1 win over York.

Man of the match Richard Whawell led the way with two superb scoring strikes.

Whawell struck in the opening minutes, finishing a slinking run from inside his own half with a shot that left the goal-keeper no chance.

Gavin Kaye and John Sykes, the other front men, then combined for the second, scored by the latter.

York hit back with a goal before half-time, but Slazenger continued their dominance and were rewarded with second half goals for Whawell, Sykes and Kaye.

Report: 01-10-2000 – Boys U16 Tournament

October 1, 2000 by Slazenger HC

Slaz U16’s fought hard but couldnt break through the York City A defence as they went 1-0 down.

Jonathan Clewlow had a good game in midfield but was blocked at every turn, while Eddie Richardson had a great game in defence.

The U16’s then had a bad day against Boston Spa as they were thumped 4-0.

Gavin Kaye and Neil Hutchins made vital tackles for Slaz, but weight of numbers and some clever short corner routines proved telling in the end as Spa held sway.
