There were mixed results for Slazengers U14 Boys as they started their new campaign in nervous fashion with a number of new players in the starting line-up. Slazengers got off to a disappointing start as they fell 4-0 to Sheffield in the opening match despite the best efforts of Scott Fisher, Thomas Kent and Jack Taylor in defence. Slazenger seconds took a huge step towards safety with a hard fought and well deserved victory away at Bankers fourths. It was always going to be a tough game with Bankers pushing for promotion, but it was Slazenger who wanted it more and pressed straight from the off. Slazenger firsts drew 1-1 with third placed Sheffield Bankers. Sheffield set off well with strong play in midfield, but Slaz’ giving as good as they got created the better chances with great linking play from Mark and James Swindon, Mike Thornicroft and Richard Hutchins. Slazenger seconds produced a much improved performance to take a point off a strong Bankers side and can consider themselves unlucky not to take all three. Slazenger 2nds had to dig deep for the three points in their 3-2 win over Sheffield University Bankers.
