Slazenger Men’s 2nd Team lost at home to Hull University 6-5 in a thriller of a match. Hull opened the scoring with a goal within two minutes of push back, this made slaz wake up and were soon pilling the pressure on Hull and were soon on level term. Slaz 1st travelled to Leeds to play Ramgarhia 1st team. Both teams set off with a clear intent to gain the upper hand, slaz swung the ball round the pitch meeting a packed out defence, whilst Ramgarhia locked their D tight with men and hit slaz on the break with few in numbers with aerial balls. The U12 boys made some good progress at their most recent tournament, gelling as a team, with some stand-out performances. We took a full eleven players includng two 'keepers, with a couple more outfielders unavailable this weekend, which bodes well. Three of the boys were at their first ever tournament. Slazenger Boys U10's travelled to Pocklington School, newly promoted, and ready to make waves in division 2. In the end they proved more than a match. With most players well under 10 years old, they are becoming a force to be rekoned with! Slazenger 4's played well against Airedale 3's in short spells but appeared anxious during the rest of the game. The team managed to play the occasional good passage of play but it was too often interspersed with sloppy play that allowed the opposition to defend deeply and hit the home side on the break. Matthew Stacey and Aidan Hopkinson played well in midfield and Matthew Smith stuck to his man-marking task well.
