Slaz had a few key players missing, but gelled very well together, playing better hockey than they have for weeks against a team 2 divisions higher in the semi-final of the cup. It was close all the way through and there was never more than one goal in it. Slaz never gave up and had great fluid play with the ball. The game was a very fast paced game with Slazenger's making some great opportunities to score. York had the first push back and Slazenger's were straight on the ball sure that York would be able to get round the team as easy as they thought. York University managed to break through a gap and scored the first goal of the game. Slazengers having moved up a Division and holding their own last time out; again faced tough opposition against some more well established teams. Slazenger 3rds got their first league win on the board in emphatic fashion, with a 8-0 win over local rivals Rotherham 4th's. In recent games, Slaz seemed able to create many chances, without the ability to convert them to goals. This was rectified this weekend. Slazenger got back to winning ways with a convincing win against North league regulars Newcastle Ladies 1sts. In the following order: The 1st goal came from Ailish Hendry 10 minutes in with a single handed effort defeating several players, carrying it across the D to the right post, then flicking the ball reverse stick into the left corner.
