Report: 12-11-2011 – Ladies 1st’s (10) vs. (0) Newcastle 1st’s

November 12, 2011 by Slazenger HC

Slazenger got back to winning ways with a convincing win against North league regulars Newcastle Ladies 1sts. In the following order:

The 1st goal came from Ailish Hendry 10 minutes in with a single handed effort defeating several players, carrying it across the D to the right post, then flicking the ball reverse stick into the left corner.

Mandy Smith secured the second 15 minutes in. A strong strike from the edge of the D left the keeper with no chance of stopping it.

This was followed up by Katie Firth 5 minutes later, with a similar strike from the outer edge of the D, again leaving little chance for the keeper.

Hendry secured her second and fourth of the match minutes later. After carrying the ball from the centre line, taking on several players the ball was burried in the back of the net.

The 5th came at 30 mins; Sarah Hobbs playing the ball across the “D”, where Naomi Horsley was in place to sweep the ball into the net.

Ailish netted her hattrick at the 40 minute mark. Good link up passing through the midfield opened up space to feed Hendry the ball. Another charging run down field gave her prime shooting position inside the D to finish goal 6.

Mandy scored goal number 7 (her 2nd of 3); a shot from the right hand side of the D that nobody could even see for the speed , went straight into the top corner of the goal!

Ailish wrapped her 4th and final goal shortly after. A short corner where Ailish switched sides with Elle poskett, confusing the defence who failed to run out to her, giving Ailish time to shoot and netting number 8.

Katie Firth completed her brace with goal number 9. Using a set piece straight out of training, Katie was ready on the left post to put away Mandy’s shot from another short corner. (60mins)

After setting up Katie, Mandy went on to wrap up her hat trick in style with another rocket shot to make it 10-0 to slaz.
