Slazengers mens 4th team faced up against Wakefield and hoped to record a double over their local rivals after a 3-1 win earlier in the season. Slazengers started strong and pounced first after centre forward John Sykes rushed through Wakefield’s defence and after an attempt the first goal came to Harry Gunning at the back post. Doncaster visited Slazengers development team which saw Slazengers well organised and moving the ball well. Before long Slazengers had a short corner for Matty chilton to strike from again. Slazenger girls under 14's secured promotion to league 6 with fantastic team performances on Sunday. Slazengers dominated in both their games, demonstrating great supportive play with movement on and off the ball. Pre tournament team talks centred (amongst other things) around the need to score goals as promotion had previously been denied when a better goal difference would have been enough. Unlucky Slazengers missed out on top spot on goal difference in the latest Yorkshire Youth Hockey League under-ten boys seven-a-side tournament. The youngsters beat old foes Ben Rhydding for the first time this season but finished behind them in the League A table after losing to Leeds, who also closed on the same number of points in third place.
