In a highly entertaining match between two evenly matched sides - Slazenger thirds and visitors City of York fifths a 1-1 draw was probably the fairest result. Slazenger moved the ball round nicely in the first half against York and had the best chance of the game, but failed to make it count. Slazenger went two goals astray in the opening ten minutes from this disastrous start.The visitors eventually found their feet but failed to find their usual fluid style. In fact, Slazenger conceded a third goal before Marcus Taylor's battling midfield display rekindled Slazenger's spirits. Report: 08-02-2003 – Mens 1st’s (5) vs (3) Sunderland 1st’s

slazenger got back to winning ways with a well-deserved victory over a strong Sunderland side. Despite early home pressure the Sunderland 'keeper kept Slazenger out with some fine saves and it was the visitors who capitalised to move into a 2-0 lead before Whittle pulled a goal back just before half time to give Slazenger hope.
