November 23, 2002 by Slazenger HC

Slazenger got off to a slow start, but eventually found top gear. The visitors thwarted a lot of the Wakefield side's attacks and it took until ten minutes before the break for Slazenger to break the deadlock. A well-worked short corner was drilled home by Paul Wiper. The second half was a totally different story. As Boston Spa tired Slaz started to dominate. They took the game by the scruff of the neck following two goals from Alec Gilston. One was from a short corner and the other came … [Read more...] about Report: 23-11-2002 – Mens 2nd’s (4) vs. (0) Boston Spa 2nd’s

Slazenger Thirds failed to take advantage of superior posession and went down 3-2 at Kings Cross. The visitors went a goal down after a poor start and although Ian Wiper levelled matters, Slazenger found themselves 3-1 down at half-time. The visiting side dominate after the break, despite losing Lawrence Thornton to injury and halved the deficit when Eddie Richardson finished off a lovely move involving Andy Pickles and Martin Lofthouse. Report: 16-11-2002 – Mens 1st’s (0) vs. (1) Gateshead 1st’s

November 16, 2002 by Slazenger HC

Slazenger enjoyed a lot of possession and had numerous chances but were unable to break down Gateshead who snatched victory with a late goal. The Horbury outfit started strongly and slick link-up play between the midfield and the forwards put the North East side under constant pressure. Slazenger forwards Kevin Windler and Mark Butel showed great skill but were unable to break the Gateshead defence and the game remained goalless at half-time. After the break, Slazenger were put under … [Read more...] about Report: 16-11-2002 – Mens 1st’s (0) vs. (1) Gateshead 1st’s

Report: 09-11-2002 – Mens 2nd’s (1) vs (0) Sheff. Hallam 4th’s

November 9, 2002 by Slazenger HC

Slazenger Seconds maintained their 1-- percent record thanks to a 1-0 win at home to Sheffield Hallam Fourths in a top-of-the-table clash. It was a far from convincing display from Slazenger who snatched victory through Andy Foreman. Centre forward Gilston thought he had doubled Slazenger's lead but his celebrations were cut short by the umpire. The midfield of Jonny White, David Kaye and Paul Wiper performed well, as did goalkeeper Tom Peniston who was duly awarded the man of the match … [Read more...] about Report: 09-11-2002 – Mens 2nd’s (1) vs (0) Sheff.
