Slazenger enjoyed a lot of possession and had numerous chances but were unable to break down Gateshead who snatched victory with a late goal.
The Horbury outfit started strongly and slick link-up play between the midfield and the forwards put the North East side under constant pressure. Slazenger forwards Kevin Windler and Mark Butel showed great skill but were unable to break the Gateshead defence and the game remained goalless at half-time.
After the break, Slazenger were put under pressure but weathered the early storm thanks largely to goalkeeper James Cowden who made several crucial saves. But Lowden was unable to stop Gateshead from scoring from a short corner with five minutes to go and, although man of the match James Swinden went close late on, Slazenger couldnt salvage a point.
