Slazenger were not looking forward to their first League outing against last season's runners up given a severely depleted squad due to illness, holidays and other commitments. Slaz mens 2nds had a tough encounter away at Leeds 6ths. The team was below strength to start, with 5 of the regular team unable to play. However, subs from the 3rds stepped up to fill the gap well. Due to bad weather this was slaz's first match in a month and it could've been a tough one but Slaz managed to start brightly and took the game to Doncaster. Slaz took an early lead through Ben Graham and thois seemed to wake Doncaster up as they started to play the better hockey. Slaz Mens 2nds anticipated a tough encounter with top of the table rivals Sheffield Hallam 6th's.
