Slaz Mens 2nds anticipated a tough encounter with top of the table rivals Sheffield Hallam 6th’s.
The team set to work, and were rewarded with two goals within the first 10 minutes, putting the team in a strong position; Mick Claes and Matthew Stacey netting early on.
However, for the first half, the team didnt appear to assert dominance as the scoreline would suggest. Instead, it was a closely fought affair, with some open play from both sides. The home side took the 2-0 advantage into half time, though it never appeared a dun deal.
In the second half, the team began to exploit their advantage with several attacking plays. Simon Randall was explosive up front, battling hard and contesting the ball; being rewarded with a brace. Matthew Stacey continued to hastle the right wing, causing the Sheffield defence plenty of problems. The result was a second, goal.
Sheffield continued to attack intermittently, and from this, they scored a single goal in response. But by then, the result was secured.
All was left was for man of the match Stacey to wrap it up with a 3rd goal for his hat-trick.
