After a slightly late start on a cold day Slazengers were straight on the attack with a short corner awarded within the first minute. Unfortunately the ladies were unable to score from it and that continued for some time with many chances for Slazengers and a disallowed goal for Stacey Drake. The game started strongly for both sides with both teams having chances but Slazengers defence was strong. After many attacks before half time finally the first goal was scored by Slazengers. With New Year only just passed it was back to Hockey already. Refreshed from the break Slazengers ladies started with determination managing to score first from a short corner. Horsforth then equalised and so it continued with each side scoring but Slazengers never in a losing position. Slazenger were hopeful of a more equal playing field against their local rivals and it was soon apparent that the teams were more evenly matched.
