Report: 16-02-2013 – Ladies 3rd’s (1) v (2) Harrogate 5th’s

March 5, 2013 by Slazenger HC

Slazengers 3rds battled hard and were unlucky to come away without any points.

Slazengers battled hard from the beginning and with some key players missing, people stepped into different roles with confidence.

Harrogate broke the defences early in the first half but slazengers didn’t let their heads go down and battled hard to nullify the goal. Justine Birkett was there on the right post to slot home the equaliser.

Throughout the second half, both defences stood strong despite the pressure. As the full time whistle blew, an unlucky foot in the D meant Harrogate were awarded a penalty corner. Slazengers worked hard to defend it but the ball smashed the backboard gutting all the slazengers players. Despite the 2-1 result, slazengers took positives out of the game and the all round performance was up to usual standard.

January 17, 2013 by Slazenger HC

Report: 15-12-2012 – Ladies 3rd’s (1) vs. (6) Thirsk 2nd’s

December 19, 2012 by Slazenger HC

Despite bad weather for the past 3 weeks preventing training sessions, and some new players in the team, Slazengers was off to a strong start, with Gemma Whittam scoring the first goal of the match within the first few minutes. Unfortunately, although Slazengers managed to keep possession and had many attempts on goal, Thirsk broke through and equalised the score. Scores didn’t stay 1-1 for long though, with Thirsk quickly adding another 2 extra points to their score despite some good defensive work from all.

Nevertheless, Slaz came out of half time with positive attitudes and determination and while they had many opportunities on goal, Thirsk proved too tricky to break, and despite some strong defensive work (and impressive diving from some!), Thirsk scored another 3 goals over the course of the second half, bringing the final score to 6-1.

Although it was not one of their best results, the team finished on a high, with a very positive and cheerful attitude, with player of the match being awarded to Codie Thompson, for a great debut match.
