Slazenger U16's had an excellent day's hockey in the latest round of Yorkshire Youth League matches. Skipper James Swinden led his side to two wins and a draw for seven valuable points. Frustrated by excellend goalkeeping against Driffield, Slazenger had to settle for a 0-0 draw. But the side went on to record 1-0 and 3-0 victories over Bradford and Rotherham respectively. Hero of the hour Thomas Penistone made two penalty shoot-out saves to steer Slazenger U18's into the quarter finals of the RAF Youth Hockey Cup. Slazenger and York were locked at 1-1 each at the end of normal time of a game played on a partly frozen pitch. James Swinden bagged the vital in-game goal. Slazenger U14's celebrated 2:1 victory ratio from their latest round of matches. The side defeated Boston Spa 2-0, lost out to Bradford 1-0, but got back on track with a 1-0 win over Scarborough. Jonathan Clewlow played solidly at centre-half throughout the three games. Slazenger Boys U16's had a tough day and mixed results at the weekend. They lost 2-0 to Yorkshire under 15's then secured a good 1-0 win over Scarborough with Skipper James Swindon's short corner strike. Slazenger U12's were undefeated over the weekend beating Thirsk 4-6 in their first game, taking a 3-0 victory from their second with York A, sharing a goal less draw with Doncaster from game three and defeating York B 3-0 in the final game. Unfortunately, Slazenger failed to progress to the semi-finals on goals different with Doncaster.
