Report: 17-02-2002 – Boys U14’s

Slazenger U14’s enjoyed mixed fortunes in their games against Leeds, Rotherham and Bradford but there were a number of fine performers.

The side beat Leeds 4-0 with Rich Hutchins, Gareth Preston and Ester Hill outstanding with some fin teamwork from Laura Simmons and Laura Teasdale on the right wing.

Slazenger were beaten 3-1 by a good Rotherham side in their second match.It was a spirited performance by Slazenger notably Ian Hedges and Ester Hill, who were only beaten by two late goals.

In their final game, Slazenger were beaten 6-0 by Bradford; a strong team with a lot of firepower. Debutantes Harriot White and Michael Staweck played well with encouraging displays from Laura Frudd and goalkeeper Sarah Pollard.

Report: 19-01-2002 – Boys U14’s

Slazenger U14’s got off to a great start in Sunday’s three-match outing, but results ran away with them following the opening fixture.

Slazenger kicked off with an encouraging 2-0 victory over Almonbury. Gareth Ventom starred with the ball struck to his stick up front, while Richard Hutchins and Ian Hedges also impressed.

Huddersfield took a two-goal lead in a game from which Slazenger never recovered though Andrew Dean and Ventom had stand out displays.

Hutchins had another good game in midfield in the final match against Hull who overran Slazenger. Ventom and goalkeeper Sarah Pollard also impressed.

Report: 18-03-2001 – Boys U14’s

Slazenger U14’s fell foul of good short corner routines in two keenly fought contests at the weekend that finished 2-0 in the favour of both Hull and Sheffield.

Neil Hutchins defended strongly in both games while George Sutcliffe and Richard Hutchins looked good goin forward.

Report: 18-02-2001 – Boys U14’s

Slazenger Boys U14’s defence felt the strain in their latest round of matches.

Despite battling performances the back boys couldn’t prevent a 50 reversal at the hands of Ben Rhydding, a 10 defeat to Harrogate and a 7-1 beating by Thirsk.

Newcomer Ian Hedges war the singular success story from Slazenger’s stand point.

Report: 03-12-2000 – U16 Boys

Slazenger boy U16’s continued to make good progress in the Yorkshire Youth League at the weekend.

A tough first match against top side Rotherham ended 2-0 in the South Yorkshire side’s favour, but the goals came too late to respond. Neil Hutchins and Eddie Richardson spearheaded an outstanding Slazenger defensive display.

Slazenger hit back in the second game and, defeating Bradford 1-0 thanks to a Richard Hutchins strike.

Tiredness told in the third game, but dogged determination endured Slazenger gained credit from a goalless draw with Driffield.
