Report: 18-09-1999 – Mens 2nd’s (4) vs (1) Bradford 3rd’s

Halftime changes turned things around for Slazenger seconds who defeated Bradford’s third string 4-1.

Walker and man of the match Sykes eased Slazenger clear after the break while midfielders Swinden and Grange laid the foundations for Sykes’ second.

Grange blasted home a fourth after good work by Stu Howie who had dropped back effectively into midfield.

Slazenger seconds entertain Halifax 2nd’s on Saturday, 1:30pm start

Slazenger shrugged off their start disadvantage of being down to ten men to take an early lead through Mark Butel – a score that put the Horbury men on course for a 3-1 win over Bradford seconds.

Slazenger overcame early-season jitters but were often thwarted in front of goal by the Bradford goalkeeper. Further Slazenger goals were, however, added by Kaye and Butel. Slazenger travel to Roundwood on Saturday, 3pm start

Report: 18-09-1999 – Ladies 2nd’s (4) vs (1) Wakefield 2nd’s

After an evenly-matched start, Slazenger Ladies seconds eventually got on top of their Yorkshire League Division 6 rivals Leeds to win through comfortably 4-1.

Slazenger built up their dominance gradually through the first half then stepped up a gear after the break to score goals through Rachel White, Beth Millman, Penny Ward and Jane Schindler.

Player of the match went to Donna Simpson.

Report: 18-09-1999 – Ladies 1st’s (2) vs (1) Wakefield 2nd’s

Slazenger Ladies First XI played an excellent opening Yorkshire League Division 2 match with Wakefield seconds – and the result wasn’t bad either, 2-0 to the Horbury side.

Jackie Cooper and Julie Bear scored the goals in a first half totally dominated by Slazenger.

Defenders Julie Finch and Kat Pickles, and the mid-field player of the match Andrea Wallace denied Wakefield any real room on goal.
