SLAZENGER took a three-point lead at the top of the Yorkshire Division 1 with a convincing win over Hull University Both teams created chances in an even first half before Mike shaw put Slazenger up just before the break. Slazenger produced their best performance of the season to edge out Ben Rhydding's second string. They had the visitors on the back foot throughout but were thwarted time and again by excellent goalkeeping. Ben Rhydding had the first scoring chance from the penalty spot but man of the match Dave Helam made a great diving save to keep yet another clean sheet. On Sunday, Slazenger went into their encounter with Gainsborough Roses knowing a win would put them top of the heap over the Christmas break. And they did exactly that, and in some style, romping to a 11-2 victory.
