Slazengers Mens 2nd team finally got the win their recent performances deserved with a 3-0 victory against Leeds mens 6’s. Slazengers started the game at a fast pace and the Leeds midfield were immediately put under pressure and forced into mistakes. Slazengers forced a short corner and following Matt Greens shot being illegally stopped on the line, a penalty flick was awarded.
Simon Chamberlain made no mistake to put Slazengers 1-0 up. Leeds responded immediately and Slazengers keeper James Cowden was forced into a couple of sharp saves to maintain his clean sheet. Slanzengers continued to keep their workrate high with Matt Banks, Ste Roberts and Ben Graham working tirelessly in midfield to keep Leeds under pressure.
The 2nd half started saw the Leeds team begin to lose their discipline which resulted in 3 yellow cards. Slazengers created a number of chances and following the Leeds keeper making another save, Dan Atkinson was on hand to knock the loose ball into an open goal. Atkinson got a fortunate 2nd late on when he was lucky not to be blown up for a foul although 3-0 was a fair scoreline.
The match ended on a sour note when a Leeds player suffered a bad injury and we wish him all the best for a speedy recovery.
The forward line of Atkinson, Jake Barras and Jack Mumford were excellent all game for Slazengers although it was Ste Roberts who took the man of the match award for a tireless display in midfield.
