Slazenger men’s 2nd team travelled to Leeds 5th looking to follow up last weeks result with another win, but were beaten 4-2.
The score line was not a fair reflection of how close the match was. From the start it was end-to-end hockey with both teams creating chances but Leeds took the lead through a well-worked team goal. It was not long however before slaz equalised.
Neil Crouch ran through from midfield to the top of the ‘D’ and hit the ball for Simon Randall to tap in at the post. The score was not level for long as Leeds scored off a short corner just before half time.
From the start of the second half slaz took the match to Leeds and created chances but did not manage to score. With slaz pressing hard up front it left the defence exposed and Leeds scored 2 quick goals from counter attacks to seal the victory, but slaz did manage to get another goal through slaz captain Robin Whawell who scored from a well worked team attack.
Next week Slaz are at home to Lincoln Roses.
