Slazenger Seconds showed real determination in battling back from two goals down to eventually beat host Sheffield University Bankers 3-2.
The home side went 2-0 up early on but Lawrence Thornton halved the deficit before the break.
In the second half, the visitors improved and leveled through Alec Gilston, who also went on to claim the winner.
On Saturday, Slazenger entertain Sheffield Fourths, push-back 12 noon.
