Slazenger thirds lost out by an odd goal in three in an extremely competitive and even contest with West Yorkshire Police. Slazenger seconds gained a hard-earned point from a 2-2 draw with Sheffield Bankers. James Swinden and Andrew Birkett worked a neat one-two fir the latter to chip the goalkeeper for the opening goal. Slazenger came back strongly but Slazenger dug in and then made the most of a defensive slip, Jonny White slotting home coolly. Slazenger secured three vital Yorkshire League 1 points with a reasonably solid performance against Bradford. Slazenger took an early lead in the first half with a well-taken goal from Butel. Report: 07-10-2000 – Mens 5th’s (2) vs. (1) Hull YPI

Despite last minute withdrawals, depleted Slazenger fifths took the honours as they won a hard-fought game at Hull YPI 2-1. The match could have gone either way, with Slaz reaching into a 2-0 interval lead, courtesy of goals from Haydn Foster and Rob Stevens. The second half saw intense pressure from Hull and Slaz conceded a goal to inject more tension into the game.
