Slazenger produced their best performance of the season to edge out Ben Rhydding's second string. They had the visitors on the back foot throughout but were thwarted time and again by excellent goalkeeping. Ben Rhydding had the first scoring chance from the penalty spot but man of the match Dave Helam made a great diving save to keep yet another clean sheet. On Sunday, Slazenger went into their encounter with Gainsborough Roses knowing a win would put them top of the heap over the Christmas break. And they did exactly that, and in some style, romping to a 11-2 victory. Report: 16-12-2000 – Men’s 1st’s (2) vs. (0) Hull

Slazenger men's first XI went top of the Yorkshire League Division 1 table with two wins at the weekend. On Saturday, the side overcame tricky conditions to defeat hosts Hull 2-0. Mark Butel slotted home with a reverse stick strike from a tight angle to give Slazenger an early cushion.
