Slazenger seconds claim a 3-1 victory from a pulsating encounter with an experience Ben Rhydding thirds outfit. Slazenger opened brightly and were rewarded with an opening goal from Jonny White who dazzled the Ben Rhydding defence with his fancy stick work. Ben Rhydding equalised but inspired goalkeeping from man of the match Thomas Penistone kept parity up to half-time. Spirited Slazenger thirds lost out by the odd goal in five to hosts Ben Rhydding fourths. And the margin of defeat might have been more had it not been for the heroics of goalkeeper Jonny Walker. Slazenger managed to restrict Ben Rhydding to just 1-0 by half-time and equalised early in the second half through Martin Lofthouse. Slazenger second's disappointing away form continued with a 2-1 reversal at Sheffield fourths.Slazenger should take positives from the encounter, however, in the guise of Paul Wiper and man of the match Bob Wood who were outstanding. Report: 27-10-2001 – Mens 5th’s (7) vs (3) Brigg 4th’s

Slazenger Fifths' first win of the season was a comfortable 7-3 success over Brigg fourths who provided the biggest shock of the day with a goal in the opening minute. Ian Wiper scored twice from penalty corners and in between Steve Wood fired true from the top of the D to put Slazenger 3-1 up after 20 minutes.
