Slazenger U12 Girls took part in their latest round of matches in the Yorkshire Youth League. They opened up with a 0-0 draw against local rivals Wakefield and followed it with a 1-1 draw with Kirklees. Philippa Secker scoring. A good win for Slazenger even though it should have been 7 - 0 as Richard Hutchings was robbed of his second goal. Slazenger started off well pushing up the field to the goal. A good link up from Richard and Jermane Cockerill saw Cockerill put 1 goal away. Airedale came back, but Slazenger’s strong defence kept them out. In the third of five tournaments to be held this season Slazenger U10's played in the second division for the first time after good results moved them up. It was a promising start with a 2-0 win against Chapeltown's B side, with goals from Henry Moore and Daniel Perry. Slazenger were left disheartened after Bradford scored with the last touch of a game that the Horbury side should have won easily after missing numerous chances. After early pressure Bradford took the lead following a good short corner strike. Slazenger fifths recovered from two goals down to a defeat York seconds 4-2. Jermane Cockerill pulled a goal back when he exchanged passes with Russell Killey from a short corner and then good hockey up the field created an equaliser for Ian Gordon to set up Chris Wood for the equaliser.
