Slazenger 4's lost their previous encounter against Barnsley so it was very encouraging that Slazengers started this match with a high tempo and built penetrating attacks from the start. Using both flanks, the home side managed to get behind the Barnsley defence several times before one of these attacks resulted in a goal when Harry Bullock fortuitously managed to reverse hit the ball into the far corner. Having battered Newcastle Ladies 10-0 away, Slaz were hoping for similar success in their first year in the Northern League Div 2 (east). Saturday's game was a very important fixture as it was between the top two teams in Division 4: Horsforth 1 at top of the table and Slazenger 2s in 2nd, with this in mind Slazengers was determined to play hard.
