Back to div 2! Roll on the England Hockey U10's cup! Slazenger v Doncaster Presented with some changes to the usual team, Slazenger soon settled down to their first match against Doncaster. The opposition had several attempts at goal, but all were just off target. Alex, Lucas and Ashley made great headway pushing forward, with Will finally having a great shot at goal, only to be saved by the Doncaster keeper. When Slazenger Development team took to the pitch this week they were looking forward to a third win against their Yorkshire rivals, Rotherham. However, hockey is never that simple. A very even start to the match saw Tony Walker, Danny Croxall, Dave Smyth and Steve Wood soak up early pressure from Rotherham. There is probably more to say about the run up to the match than the match itself! This game had already been postponed due to England Masters activities and you could say that Chapeltown were keen to play it, given their top of the league position, especially since they realised the Slaz team would be depleted. A double header of hard away games was on the menu for Slaz this weekend. After being soundly beaten by Boston Spa at home, Slaz were not expecting an easy ride and losing key player Katie Firth within the first few minutes of the game did not help their cause. With Kazza B, Daisy, Andrea and a few other regular second teamers unable to play the seconds struggled to get a full team for the match on Saturday, however, with the help from some other Slazenger players they managed to get a full team with no subs.
