It must have been the early start that was the reason for Slazenger's starting sluggishly against York in their latest development league fixture. Despite dominating possession the team never converted this dominance into goals. York were a young, well organised team with a pair of good central defenders who Slazengers struggled to get past. That said, Aidan Hopkinson never stopped working hard in midfield and Dave Smyth was always available to link play between midfield and attack. The first … [Read more...] about Report: 19-11-2011 – Mens 4’s Dev. (1) vs (0) York 10’s

Report: 16-10-2011 – Girls U12’s Tournament
0-0 draw against Northallerton 2-0 win against Leeds 1-0 win against Halifax 3-0 loss against Ben Rhydding 2-0 loss against York The U12s girls had a productive day with a goalless draw against Northallerton, getting the ball high and creating pressure on it. Most play was in the Northallerton D but Selby/Slazengers ran out of time to convert to a win. Second game saw a sweep goal from Emily Quantrell after nice wide passing from Carys on the right wing, and a similar one from Chloe Hall … [Read more...] about Report: 16-10-2011 – Girls U12’s Tournament

Report: 24-09-2011 – Mens 4th’s Dev. (2) vs (0) City of York 10
Slazenger 4ths started their league programme sluggishly and were somewhat wasteful in possession, giving the ball away too often to build up any meaningful attacks. There was the odd isolated movement in the oppositions penalty area but Slazenger's failed to have a meaningful strike on goal. Keeper Giles Field kept the side in the game with a handful of decent saves and Paul Johnson looked composed at the heart of defence in partnership with Matthew Feather. In the second hald Slazenger's … [Read more...] about Report: 24-09-2011 – Mens 4th’s Dev. (2) vs (0) City of York 10
Report: 02-10-2010 – Mens 4th’s (1) vs (9) City of York 10th’s
It was a confident Slazenger team who stepped out on Saturday afternoon. After the previous weeks unfortunate draw, the side were showing promise after only a few matches. However, as a young and often inexperienced team, Slazenger was going to struggle against the skills of an older and more developed York squad. Within minutes of the first whistle, a goal had been conceeded. York broke quickly, and outpaced the Slazenger midfield. Outnumbered, the defence and keeper stood strong, but were … [Read more...] about Report: 02-10-2010 – Mens 4th’s (1) vs (9) City of York 10th’s
