The result does Slazenger no justice at all after the side put in one of its best team displays of the North East Division 2 season. Slazenger started strongly and had the game under control in spite of some 'interesting' decisions by the umpires. History was made on Saturday when Wakefield and Slazenger met for the first time in league competition at first-team level. Slazenger seconds claim a 3-1 victory from a pulsating encounter with an experience Ben Rhydding thirds outfit. Slazenger opened brightly and were rewarded with an opening goal from Jonny White who dazzled the Ben Rhydding defence with his fancy stick work. Spirited Slazenger thirds lost out by the odd goal in five to hosts Ben Rhydding fourths. And the margin of defeat might have been more had it not been for the heroics of goalkeeper Jonny Walker.
