Slazenger’s seconds suffered another disappointing defeat at the hands of Brigg seconds in a game that they should have so easily won. Slazenger 5ths romped to an easy 5-0 victory over Wakefield sixths in the cup. The home side took the lead early with a great goal by captain Ian Gordon followed shortly afterwards by a goal from Chris Wood. A good win for Slazenger even though it should have been 7 - 0 as Richard Hutchings was robbed of his second goal. Slazenger started off well pushing up the field to the goal. A good link up from Richard and Jermane Cockerill saw Cockerill put 1 goal away. Airedale came back, but Slazenger’s strong defence kept them out. Slazenger were left disheartened after Bradford scored with the last touch of a game that the Horbury side should have won easily after missing numerous chances. After early pressure Bradford took the lead following a good short corner strike. Slazenger fifths recovered from two goals down to a defeat York seconds 4-2. Jermane Cockerill pulled a goal back when he exchanged passes with Russell Killey from a short corner and then good hockey up the field created an equaliser for Ian Gordon to set up Chris Wood for the equaliser.
