Slazenger 1st XI warmed up for the upcoming league season with an excellent 7-2 home victory against a strong Derwent 1sts outfit - inspired by the efforts of Richard Hutchings. Slazenger seconds took a huge step towards safety with a hard fought and well deserved victory away at Bankers fourths. It was always going to be a tough game with Bankers pushing for promotion, but it was Slazenger who wanted it more and pressed straight from the off. The following day, Slazenger seconds were at home in a re-arranged fixture against Bradford University firsts in a real must win relegation battle. Slazenger seconds traveled to promotion chasing Lincoln on Saturday and were denied by a last gasp winner for the home side. The visitors immediately found themselves under pressure.
