Slaz started the new year with a good 4-1 victory away at York. The team were caught on the break; against the run of play, and were punished - going 1-0 down early on. However, the team fought back with a goal from John Toon levelling the score at half time. In the second half, Slaz pressed on, with a brace from Darren Buttery and one from James Walker. Notable performances came from Aiden Hopkinson and James Higgins in midfield, but goalkeeper and Captain Giles "Fodder" Field took man … [Read more...] about Report: 05-01-2013 – Mens 4th’s (4) vs. (1) City of York 9th’s

Report: 05-01-2013 – Mens 5th’s (3) vs. (2) Doncaster 7th’s
A slow after Christmas start for the Slazenger’s fifth team saw a dismal first half with a competent Doncaster team who ran rings around both young and old players. Within 5 minutes Doncaster had scored with some fine wing movement and neat triangular passes. Slaz with possibly too much Xmas pudding still in them looked lacklustre and seemed unable to track or mark any of the Doncaster players. Slaz spent another 15 frustrating minutes unable to clear their own half and get the ball to the … [Read more...] about Report: 05-01-2013 – Mens 5th’s (3) vs. (2) Doncaster 7th’s
Report: 15-12-2012 – Mens 1st’s (1) vs. (1) Rotherham 1st’s

Slazenger's 3's last league fixture of the year was at home against Brigg 4's. Having beaten them twice already in league and cup this season the home team went into the match with confidence but aware that they couldn't be complacent. It took the home team quite a while to settle and get into their groove after some concerted pressure from the opposition. However, once they settled into their team formation, the home team began creating scoring opportunities. It took Ian hedges breaking … [Read more...] about Report: 15-12-2012 – Mens 3rd’s (4) vs. (0) Brigg 4th’s
Report: 15-12-2012 – Mens 5th’s (3) vs. (4) Worksop 3rd’s
Slazenger 5's faced a tough encounter against a physical and quick Worksop team. Despite this it was Slazengers that started the brighter with neat passing interplay and people making themselves available for passes. Harry Gunning and Tom Pitchforth worked well linking up with veteran Geoff Birkett in midfield and wingers Chris Gascoigne and Elliott Golding were always available on the wings. It was no surprise when striker Peter Gunning put the home side in front half way through the … [Read more...] about Report: 15-12-2012 – Mens 5th’s (3) vs. (4) Worksop 3rd’s
