Despite a solid performance, Slazenger Fifths were piped 3-2 by hosts Sheffield. The visitors hit the post three times in the first half and continued to puch after the break. But they were hit twice on the counter and, although they pulled level courtesy of Steve Wood and Gareth Ventom, Slazenger were condemned to defeat when Sheffield scored a third. Slazenger fifths were beaten 3-0 by Sheffield Hallam Sevenths but the score-line does not do justice to Slazenger who played some excellent hockey and looked in contention right up to the final 15 minutes. Report: 17-11-2001 – Mens 5th’s (2) vs (6) Bradford 4th’s

Slazenger fifths dominated the first 20 minutes of their away game with Bradford fourths but eventually fell away to lose 6-2. Bradford stunned Slazenger by surviving the initial storm then racing into a 4-0 lead, but Stuart Burnside pegged one back and Rob Stevens first-time strike put the visitors back in the hunt.
