Despite a solid performance, Slazenger Fifths were piped 3-2 by hosts Sheffield.
The visitors hit the post three times in the first half and continued to puch after the break.
But they were hit twice on the counter and, although they pulled level courtesy of Steve Wood and Gareth Ventom, Slazenger were condemned to defeat when Sheffield scored a third.
