Sharpshooter Chris Wood scored four times as Slazenger fifths lifted the Plate at the expense of opponents Leeds The final finally went ahead after being cancelled the weekend before because of the bad weather and Slazenger got off to a slow start against well organised Leeds defence. A late Jermane Cockerill goal finally settled this thrilling Plate semi-final match in Slazenger's favour.The home side dominated the first half but the sides went in level, Slazenger's goal coming after a well placed short corner Cockerill was converted by Simon Killey. Slazenger fifths blend of experience and youth proved successful as they beat Huddersfield Ninths 2-0. Veterand Alan Killey, Steve Wood and Dave Smyth dominated the midfield and it was Wood and his son Christopher who combined for the game's opening goal.
