Sunday saw Slazengers mens first team in the semi final of the league cup against unbeaten higher league opposition in Leeds mens second team. On Sunday, Slazenger Boys U14 travelled to Huntington School with a 16 strong squadWith 5 spare players, we were able to help out Leeds/Adel who had only 9. Alex King & Nathan Archer went on loan throughout the day so that they both got plenty of game practice, impressing the Leeds coach with their enthusiasm and skill. Report: 13-11-2010 – Mens 1st’s (3) vs. (1) Leeds 3rd’s
The game was scrappy throughout with Slazengers struggling to play the fluent hockey they have been playing this year and it was left to the quick thinking of Jack Kitchen to open the scoring with an excellent reverse stick strike after the Leeds defense seemed to stand still expecting a whistle. Report: 07-11-2010 – Girls U16’s Brigshaw High School
Slazenger travelled to Brigshaw High School for their next tournament round. They faced off against two strong Wakefield U16 girls teams along with one from Leeds. Slazenger played some great hockey, with standout performances from many of the team. Unfortunately, as is often the case however, the hardwork and presistance was not shown in the final scorelines. Slazengers always knew this game was going to be tough as Leeds usually play a very physical game and move the ball quickly around the pitch. Leeds true to form showed their physical side when one of the midfielders decided to shoulder barge Mandy Smith off the ball with Mandy being flattened, the offending player got green carded as the Umpires tried keep the game under control.
