Slazenger Ladies 1st team took on mid table Rotherham this week with renewed optimism that they could get a decent result. They managed to hold off for a whole 10 minutes this week which was an improvement but conceded the first goal from a short corner quickly followed by a second 5 minutes later. Although the opposition appeared to start as the stronger team, Slaz defended well and eventually got into their stride mid way through the first half, playing some good hockey and unlucky not to score. Slazenger had prepared well for the forthcoming trip to local rivals Huddersfield Dragons with the vast majority of squad members available, however had a significant setback the morning of the trip when Vice Captain Sarah Hobbs dropping out early doors due to food poisoning. To say Slazenger had a 'bad day at the office' was an understatement this week. Following last week's defeat at Hull Slaz were hopeful that they could gain a result, indeed Halifax were going into this game on the back of two defeats. Slazenger travelled across to Hull expecting a challenging game against top of the table Hull and a challenging game was what they got.
